Shopping Guide

If you are a first time buyer:

 Parents

If you have a child aged between 1 and 5, purchase 1st Steps with Numicon at Home along with Numicon at the Seaside. The kit will also be useful for activities at school- right through to high school. When you have finished the activities in this kit, then purchase Plus Pack Kit One and then Plus Pack Kit Two

If your child has special needs then a better investment is to purchase Closing the Gap or the teaching manual for this programme.

If you are homeschooling your children, then consider buying the Firm Foundations or Closing the Gap  group kit initially, to give you more equipment and Numicon Homework Activities.

If you have a child with dyslexia and/or dyscalculia and are wanting to support him/her at home, we recommend purchasing the Kit One Plus Pack and the Maths Bag. This will give you enough resources to begin with.  Any extras can be purchased separately.

If you have a child at intermediate or secondary school struggling with maths, then please contact us.  Using the Numicon shapes to solve mathematical problems really helps those students 'see' the concepts and gives them the opportunity to explore and learn without the fear of making mistakes. Investigations with Numicon may be your answer.

Early Childhood Centres

Purchase 1st Steps with Numicon in the Nursery and Firm Foundations Group Kit along with the Teaching Guide for Closing the Gap to support children with special or learning needs.

Parents at your centre can purchase the 1st Steps at Home Kit and Numicon by the Seaside at Home, to introduce their child to the wonderful world of numbers and establish great learning before they reach school. The kit will also be useful for homework and learning right through to high school level.

Extra equipment would be:

Numicon at the Seaside Big Book ( and Numicon in the Garden- coming October)

Schools

Increasing numbers of schools in New Zealand are Australia are successfully and enthusiastically using the Numicon programme. By purchasing Group Kits along with extra resources and Teaching Guides, software for interactive whiteboards, homework activities, programmes for secial needs and those requiring intervention and remediation, all children are being satisfied and successful in their learning. Research proves this. The NZ Numpa programme works well augmenting this programme. The patterns are different from the Make-a Tens patterns, but that is not a problem. Experience has shown that most children prefer the Numicon patterns to the Numpa patterns.

If parents at your school wish to have their own equipment for homework and to support their child's learning, then the most economical way is by purchasing  Maths Bags to reinforce the Numicon Homework Activities programme with supportive activities at home.

There are group kits for up to 6 users and one-to-one kits for a single-user, classroom options and homework activities supporting all children in an inclusive environment. No one is left out!
